Do My Wisdom Teeth Need to be Removed?
Wisdom teeth often become wedged inside the bone or against adjacent teeth, leading to complications like
- Pain
- Swelling
- Partially erupted teeth
- Infection or damage to adjacent teeth
- Cysts
- Crowded teeth or tooth movement
All too often, impacted or partially-erupted wisdom teeth place your adjacent, healthy teeth at risk. In those situations, removing the wisdom tooth is usually best for your oral health. Dr Chen will take an OPG or X-ray of your mouth to determine the position and development of your four wisdom teeth. If it’s best to have them removed for therapeutic purposes, we can typically do so here in our practice.
What to Expect
Our team will walk you through the entire extraction process, so that you know what to expect before scheduling the procedure. Our practice also offers nitrous oxide sedation (happy gas) to help you or your teen relax throughout the process. The area around your tooth will also be completely numbed with local anaesthetic to prevent any discomfort.
We will be happy to answer any questions you have so that you can be prepared for your oral surgery.
